Port of Shantou Position : 23°21'16" N 116°40'20" E  located in the Shantou Bay.  Channel : depth / 4-8 meters; length/ 18.55 kilometers.  Temperature : annual average 21.3°, the highest temperature is 37.9°C and the lowest is 0.4°C.  Wind : wind direction more from the northeast; annually 3 typhoon influences the port, max speed 52.1 meters per second.  Precipitation : annual precipitation is 1672.5 mm, rain season is from May to August.  Ice : ice-free-port.  Fog : annual average 22 days, normally occured from January to April.  Hydrology : spring and neap tide changes every half day irregularly with water level rising of 4.97 meters in the highest and -0.3 meters in the lowest, tide difference is 1.03 meters, tide speed 1.3 meters per second.  Hinterland : the port covers parts of two provinces of Guangdong and Fujian.
